Recomended Catholic Books: Mother Angelica's Private and Pithy Lessons

If you have ever seen Mother Angelica on EWTN’s Catholic Classics, you already know what this book is about. Mother Angelica’s Private and Pithy Lessons from the Scriptures is a collection of her talks given to the other nuns in her convent. Her talks, gathered and edited for this book by Raymond Arroyo, have all the charm that have made Mother so popular over the years. She will take a scripture passage and put it in terms that we can relate to in today’s world. I was pleasantly surprised at the length of each lesson. They were much shorter than I thought they would be. Each lesson takes about 2-5 minutes to read, which makes it easy to find time during the day to read Mother’s message and contemplate what the passage is saying to me personally. Although Mother Angelica has a different style than Saint Josemaría Escriva, I come away with the sense that these two people know the everyday person very well. Because of this they are able to convey the true meaning of the Word to those with very practical needs. If you find it hard to crack open a heavy tome after a long day at work, Mother Angelica’s Private and Pithy Lessons is the book for you.

I would suggest supporting the television network that Mother Angelica started by ordering the book from EWTN.com.
