Superb Catholic Media: Catholics Come Home
For Catholics who want to learn more about their religion or who want to share the Good News with others, the Internet has provided great resources since the mid-90's. Before the Internet, there was EWTN that delivered solid Catholic information via television and radio. Now there is a ministry that uses both the Internet and television to welcome back Catholics who have been away from their faith. The organization is called CatholicsComeHome.org. They have produced two high-end commercials designed to have large audience appeal and give a concise explanation of the Catholic faith. The commercials ask fallen-away Catholics to visit their website. In addition to the Arizona market, the spots have aired nationally, which received a very good response. When you visit the Catholics Come Home site, you are greeted by a pre-taped human host. Although the greeting is a video clip, it gives the site a welcoming feel as it points out the main elements of the webpage. The site is well organized and very orthodox. I would have no problem referencing this site. As a matter of fact, I have ordered cards from the site for those times when people have questions about the faith. Printed on the cards is a beautiful picture of St. Peters and the Come Home Internet address. Check out the cards when you are on the site. You would not be embarrassed to hand them out. The site also has information for those who are practicing Catholics and those who are not Catholic. Now if tough questions come up at a party, I will just give them a card.
