What is So Wrong With Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi Getting Married?

Recently my wife and I had a nice evening out. We asked grandma to baby-sit and we went to see a band at a club in Hollywood. That night we saw Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi out as a couple also enjoying the entertainment. It almost seemed normal and natural to see them out together. Ellen is very likable on her show and we have often seen her with Portia on television. They appear to be happy and not hurting anyone. Why would anyone want to stop them from getting married?

Although this is a Catholic site, this question can be answered without having to crack open the Bible… and I’ll make this quick and easy to understand. Homosexuality is a disorder. There is no scientific evidence that anyone is born a homosexual. None. Investigate for yourself. Check your facts and your sources. Make sure you are hearing facts and not theory. Scientists have many theories; that does not make them facts. Especially check your sources. Many people believe what is repeated to them from faulty sources. Because homosexuality is a disorder, it does not mean that those with the disorder should be discriminated against. They need to have the same care as anyone with a mental illness. Laws against homosexual marriages do not discriminate; they are defending the common good of the society against the disorder. In this way, we are assured that the healthy family structure is not undermined. Pretty straightforward. Nothing too mysterious here.

Having a well know personality, such as Ellen Degeneres, getting married to a person of the same sex gives the impression that homosexual marriage is alright. “Everyone sees that Ellen can be pretty likable on her program, so she can’t ever be described as disordered”. This statement is dangerous. When we start seeing the abnormal as normal we have lost the fundamental order that keeps a culture alive. If you don’t believe it, look at many of the great civilizations that have fallen. We are traveling down the same path. What is next? What if Ellen, or those who have positioned homosexuality in this culture as being normal, decided to make something else more acceptable? The same arguments that have been used for homosexuality can easily be used for bestiality. But, yeah, you never know. In twenty years you may be going to someone’s farm for a wedding.
