I am very pleased to start off this new series of articles with one of the best Catholic podcasts out there today. It is the Daily Breakfast with Father Roderick. The podcast is a mix of all that is happening in the world of entertainment and current events. In addition, Father always adds a pinch of Catholic teaching in among a smorgasbord of topics. The program runs for about thirty minutes, depending on how much Father Roderick has to cover (lately he has been keeping to the thirty minute mark). His topics include; science fiction movies, exercise regiments, video games, catechesis, new technology, food…and I haven’t even scratched the surface of what the Daily Breakfast may include in a single episode. Between diverse topics, he adds a nice montage of fun pop-culture sound-bites to introduce the next segment of his program.
Even if none of what I have said sounds like your cup-of-tea, still give the podcast a listen because most of what is special about the program is Father Roderick himself. He lets you in on his daily life, as if you are talking with him over breakfast. He is a Dutch Priest (his English is almost perfect) who is starting up a Catholic multimedia organization. He has adventures throughout the world while trying to accomplish his media evangelization mission. He also has friends from other media sources, such as the Simpson’s cartoon. Listening to him recount all that he does and is involved in is very interesting, funny, and educational.
