St. Rose performed extensive mortification throughout her life. She also filled her days with acts of charity by feeding and sheltering the poor in her community with the money she made by selling her embroidery.

Interesting Facts:
The types of mortification that St. Rose performed on herself was extensive. Because her beauty was a distraction to some people, she cut her hair and disfigured her face with pepper and lye. She ended up fasting every day and completely obtaining from meat. St. Rose entered a Dominican convent in 1602, where she wore a spiked crown made of medal and slept on a bed of broken glass, stone and thorns.
