With each entry, CatholicAdventure.com has tried to give a quick overview of a subject related to the Catholic Culture. Today, people live busier lives than ever. Many times this is not of our own choosing. Hopefully, this is a place that people can go to find something interesting about being Catholic, without having to spend time on research or poring over long articles. If an entry is interesting enough and you want to look into it further, I try to provide links (usually those that I have used before and know provide sound Catholic teaching).
I have just found a book that takes the same view on daily meditation. Take Five, On-The-Job Meditations with St. Ignatius is written for the working person that may only have a few minutes a day (maybe during lunch or a break) to read something spiritual and meditate. It has a solid introduction about how to use the book, and the history behind St. Ignatius’s Spiritual Exercises. In the main portion of the book, there are 74 mediations. Each mediation has a short excerpt from one of St. Ignatius’s writings. Yes, St. Ignatius lived in the 16th and 17th centuries, but his advice and reflections are as relevant today as they were when he first wrote them. It appears that human nature has not really changed all that much. The authors, Mike Aquilina and Fr. Kris D. Stubna, did a fantastic job putting all of it together. I highly recommend this wonderfully little book that is very spiritually charged.
