I just finished watching a documentary called Apostolic Fathers: Handing on the Faith. I would suggest checking it out. If you want to learn about the early church and the people who helped continue the faith given to them by the Apostles, this DVD is a great starting point. It has a fast pace documentary feel that takes the viewer through the different lands that the Catholic Apostolic Fathers traveled while spreading the Word. It is filmed on location and your guide is a sometimes quirky guy by the name of Stephen Ray. Like Indiana Jones, Mr. Ray dresses like an adventurer and infuses the material with a good deal of energy. In addition to the location spots (some nicely viewed from aerial shots), there are illustrations to help the viewer understand how the Fathers interacted and at what time they lived compared to each other.
Sometimes silly, but always interesting: This DVD will give you a taste of what the Catholic Adventure is all about.
