If life is an adventure, then the Catholic life is the ultimate adventure. For me, there is nothing more exciting than being Catholic. Okay, my life is not filled with the action found in blockbusters movies, but there is still a real sense of exhilaration. I hope that I can convey a portion of that excitement in this blog.
I finally decided to start this blog after hearing from a group of new Catholics who recently participated in the RCIA program. As candidates, they learned from the Bible (fantastic) and from the Catechism (a must), but very little else was taught. That means they were not introduced to much of what makes Catholic Culture great. Current issues were hardly mentioned, nobody talked about the leaders and teachers of the Church, the rich Catholic history was not even outlined, the profound Catholic writings were relegated to quotes from the Catechism, and they never had an opportunity to "meet" the Saints. There is so much that can enrich a new Catholics understanding of the Church and our role in it. The more we know about our religion the more exiting it becomes (if you haven’t experienced this, trust me on this one). In the future, I will provide concise entries covering all of the different aspects of being Catholic and you will hopefully agree.
If you have a Catholic Adventure story to share, or if you know of resources that can be posted, please send them to me and I will be sure to post them. (catholicadventure@gmail.com).
God Bless,
Jim
